How do I become a member of Trinity?

You become a member of Trinity by registry of baptism or by transfer of membership.

Infants and people that have not previously been baptized become members of Trinity Church and the Episcopal Church by being baptized at Trinity. Once you are baptized at Trinity you are considered a member until you transfer your membership to another church. If you move or stop participating in the life of the church, your membership may be inactivated, but you are still a member.

If you are coming to Trinity from another denomination, you can become a member by presenting proof of baptism at a church in another denomination to the Administrator or if baptismal records are not available, the Rector may allow applicant for membership to verbally avow baptism in another denomination

If you are already an Episcopalian, you become a member of Trinity by transfering your membership from your previous church of membership.

Baptism

Holy Baptism is full initiation by water and the Holy Spirit into Christ’s Body the Church. It is a public statement of one’s intentional decision to follow the way of Jesus. In the case of infant baptism, it is the parents’ declaration of their intent to raise a child in the way of Jesus. The bond which God establishes in Baptism is indissoluble, so baptism is only administered once. When you choose to be baptized yourself or to have your child baptized in the Episcopal Church, it means you are choosing to live out the Baptismal Covenant in the context of an Episcopal church community, taking your part in the worship, mission and ministries of the local parish. Baptism is open to all people, regardless of age or background.

The Baptismal Covenant as contained the 1979 Book of Common Prayer
