About our Music Director search

Music is an intrinsic and important part of worship and parish life at Trinity Church. We invite you to be a part of it by joining a choir or adding your name to our Mailing List for special musical events.

Carol Taylor, the Trinity Music Director since 1988, earned a masters degree in organ performance at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, where she later directed the University Chorus and taught organ.  She also directed the Queen Mary Road United Church Choir, which twice reached the finals of the Canadian National Choral Competition.

Ms. Taylor directs all the Trinity choirs and plays the Taylor and Boody organ, installed in 2000.

Choirs
Trinity offers a choir for (almost) everyone. Practices are held in the Choir Room, downstairs in the Parish House. If you are interested in finding out more about the choirs, please contact Carol Taylor at 886-9132.

Youth Choirs
The youth choirs rehearse on Wednesday afternoons during the academic year and sing in church about once a month. Specific rehearsal times are on the Trinity calendar or available by calling 886-9132.

  • Children’s Choir, K-Grade 3 (The smallest children rehearse on Tuesdays at 4:15 pm)
  • Junior Boys’ Choir (trebles)
  • Senior Boys’ Choir (alto, tenor, bass)
  • Junior Girls’ Choir, Grades 4-6
  • Senior Girls’ Choir, Grades 7 & up
  • Men & Boy’s Choir

Parish Choir
The main purpose of the parish choir is to support the liturgy every Sunday at 11:00, although it also sing for evensongs and occasional concerts.  Previous experience in choirs and an ability to read music are helpful but not essential. Rehearsals are held on Thursdays from 7:00-9:30 pm during the academic year.

BICS! (But I Can’t Sing!)
BICS! is offered to anyone who thinks they can’t sing but would like to be able to.

Music and Worship at Trinity Church
There are generally three services on Sunday mornings (two in the summer months).

The 7:45 service (Holy Eucharist, Rite I) is said with no music.

The 8:45 am service (Holy Eucharist, Rite II) includes unique guitar, piano and violin accompaniment to 1982 hymnbook selections. This “band” of volunteers rehearses for an hour each Sunday before the morning service and enjoys performing preludes that range from the occasional, joyful Celtic tune to a simple early music ensemble. The band invites any music lover who plays an instrument or sings and can attend the rehearsal to join in for a week, month, or year!

The 11:00 am service (Holy Eucharist, alternating Rite I and Rite II) is a traditional choral service with organ and full choir. The liturgy is sung on festive occasions. (The choirs also sing at Holy Week services, at several Evensongs a year, and for concerts and some funerals and weddings). The adult choir presently rehearses each Thursday evening (except in the summer) and for one hour on Sunday mornings; the younger choirs rehearse for 45 minutes each week in an afternoon. For more information about the choirs, please call the Director of Music, Carol Taylor at (540) 886-9132.
